I want a puppy so bad!!!

Hey,

I’ve been thinkin to get a puppy lately because I just found out that the pet store in my suburb has new puppies for a low price… but we already have a cat in our house and my mom doesnt like dogs… but the thing is - I wanna find a way to take care of the puppy without actually bringing it into the house (since mom doesnt like dogs, because of fleas and stuff like that)… so where do you think I could keep the dog while im sleeping and whenever I cant be there to take care of it?

Mikey.

If you want to get a puppy, wait until you can actually afford one and can spend most of your time with it.

Just because a pet store is selling puppies for a “low price”, it doesn’t mean that that’s the end of the costs. You’re forgetting about regular vet visits, quality food, puppy obedience classes, and other basic necessities like a bed/crate, grooming equipment, doggy shampoo, toys, collar, etc. This is besides any expensive emergency costs that can occur (accidents, snake bites, etc).

Dogs, especially puppies need a lot of socialization, training and attention at that age so that they can grow up to be good well-mannered dogs. Sticking it in the backyard most of its life will not help.

And lastly, when you’re finally ready to buy a puppy, please don’t buy it from a pet store. There’s a high chance that you’re buying a puppy that came from a puppy mill, where backyard breeders just irresponsibly breed puppies for the money, but not for the control and improvement of the breed. Those puppies might have some serious health issues when they are older which might cost you more in vet bills in the long run. Instead, check out registered and reputable breeders around your area, and do your research on their (and their dogs’) backgrounds. When you have time, read more about puppy mills.

First advice, Do NOT buy a puppy from a store. You can go to your local pound and adopt a dog for only $35.00 ( In virginia anyway) and cats are $25

And don’t get a dog unless you can care for it, Because your mom would not have to worry about Fleas and stuff if the dog was treated with a product like frontline and was on Interceptior to protect against heartworms and be able to afford all of it’s yearly check ups and vaccines. If you can’t do this right now then don’t even think about being selfish and giving a dog a terriable life

Answer #3

It would be highly unfair to get a baby, and then leave it outside…with no company for hour after hour after hour, each day…Dogs are social animals…

Wait till you can provide everything a dog needs…which is not, being locked in the back yard 90% of time…alone.

Answer #4

Please NEVER buy from a pet store! 90% of the puppies are from puppy mills. Please do NOT support this. in fact, don’t BUY at all…ADOPT! You will be saving a life.

And plese don’t leave the puppy outside. That is not fair to the dog.

well you can de-flea and worm dogs! if your mum doesnt want a dog then chaces are you wont get one. I wanted one when I lived at home and my mum had a cat and for years she just kept sayin no!!!so when I moved out I brought a puppy ajd then a coupleof weeks ago I brought another one. trust me puppies are such hard work! your first answer is spot on!!! I tried puttin mine in a cage in the kitchen just over night and they cry and bark as they need company, even more soo when they are a puppy. they need to learn how to interact with peolple and learn bounderies! please wait till you get your own place and treat yourself to a puppy where you can have it sleep in your bed if you wanted!!! please understand puppies are hard work, exspensive!!!
