I really want a ferret

I reallly wanna get a ferret but me and my brother are supposed to be taking care of our 2 cats, but my brother doesnt do anything but make them hyper and bad, so now I have to clean up what happens when they break things around the house. So my parents decided to bring them to the spca. Because of this, my parents are completely turned off by all types of pets. But I reallly want a ferret. I’ve wanted one for over a year now and nothing I say changes my moms mind. She thinks theyre rodents. I really need help! Can you help with advice on how to convince her?

I have two ferrets. You cant have only one because they’re EXTREMELY social and need company at all times. So its very cruel to have only one. They aren’t rodents whatsoever, they are cousins to the otter and are not at all destructive despite the rumors of it. The best place to get them is on www.craigslist.com. Thats where I got mine and you can get the ferrets with the cage, food and everything that they need for around $200. If you buy them from a pet store the ferrets alone are $130 a peice and any type of ferret cage itself is @200. So they’re very very pricey to buy. But I must worn you that they are an ICREDIBLE amount of work and they require a lot of taking care of. You have to clean they’re cages every single day (or illness will occur), you have to clean their teeth frequently along with their ears, and they need a vitamin supplement. Ferret food is not at all cheap as the other supplies are not either. I dont know how old you are or what your schedule is like, but if you get ferrets, you are probably getthing into more than you are expecting. But they make very good pets. Good Luck!

Firstly, they’re not rodents. They’re a type of weasel- so tell her that much. They’re closer to otters than they are to rats. Secondly, they’re about 20x more work than any cat on the planet. You have to watch them constantly. CONSTANTLY. They will destroy everything they cay dig into, grab, run away with, knock over, or chew on. It’s their goal to create chaos and disorder. It’s just wired into their DNA. That being said, if you can devote 24hrs a day to caring for something that has the energy of a toddler hell-baby on Red Bull, that fits into spaces as small as under your oven, they’re wonderful pets. They’re mischievous, funny, fun-loving, and smart. They do better when they have free-range of several rooms because they’re curious and love to run and explore. Though they are small, they don’t like being caged up, so if you can keep them in one room with linoleum over your carpeting and leave their cage ‘open’ (at all times) that is best, then let them have range over the rest of the place for at least 4 hours a day.

Honestly, they get into so much stuff it might not be fair to your mother to bring in a Ferret. They literally crap everywhere, even when they are ‘litter box trained’ or corner trained. They’re small poops, but if it’s a clean spot of carpet, it’ll make an excellent piece of toilet paper. If you can adopt a ferret from your local humane society that has already ‘calmed down’ from his or her youthful years, you may stand a greater chance of winning Mom over, as they are SO incredibly sweet and cute.

I didnt be irresponsible with the cats! they break things around the house because my brother gets them too hyper. how is that my fault? and I do not lose interest in my pets. my cat is 2 years old and I love her the same if not more then I did when I first got her, and theother is only a kitten and I love both equally. so if you do not read the fine text on the top of the page in my description of my question, dont comment.

Erm… you asked this in your other question. You had two cats… you’re getting rid of them because you didn’t train or look after them properly… oh yeah… your parents sure are gunna get you a ferret, they wouldn’t be able to look after it once you lose interest.

Maybe if you were more responsible with your cats they would let you. Your fault I think.

Answer #5

because I didnt give all the details in the other question…

Answer #6

Thats not what you said in your other question.
