How can I help my friend with abuse?

Basically my friend came to me and told me that she has been depressed a lot (I already knew) and she said she’s been depressed almost all her life. She told me how when she does something wrong or her mom wants to get her in trouble she gets punched, kicked dragged by her hair, etc.. and people found out and tried to get her help, but every time someone steps in, her mom is able to talk them out of it. My friend says it’s been getting worse. I tried to give her advice but so far none of mine has worked and I don’t know what else to tell her. She said she has gotten to the point to witch she wants to run away so what can I do to help her or what advice can I give her??

Dear Cheerleading, Your friend has a lot to deal with. She is probably scared of mom. If she was not scared of her tell her to call the police the next time she is attacked by mom. If she is scared of mom and wants to run away tell her to fun mail me back through you. This is crap when kids have to go through this stuff. MAKE SURE there is not 2 sides to the story….OK? u should call a help hotline or get evidence that this has happened and let the police no or sumthin becuz child abuse is a serious issue and i dont understand y sum1 would want 2 do that 2 their own blood but thats just me and they might hav been raised like that which is not good also let her no that ur there and ull help her through it so she doesnt do anything that could endanger her

well, she should have something on her body somewhere, and go to the police, and show themthe evedence. have them take pictures. or tell her toget someone who hasa camera, and tape her mom hitting her.

tell her 2 calm down 1st of all. maybe you should get an adult involved cuz if u cant handle it by yourself someone has 2. it sounds like her moms abusive… so yea i wud go 2 a guidance councelor, or any adult even your parents as long as they can get her help.

The child is usually very scared in this situation. She probably wants the abuse to stop but she’s afraid that the normal part of their relationship will change if she goes for help. It’s a very tricky situation. She just has to understand that nothing is worth getting that type of abuse.

There are lots of organizations that can help. Look in a phone book and you’re sure to find something. Even if it is an anonymous hotline where she can talk to someone without feeling like she would be endangering herself or causing disruption to the family. That way she can talk to a professional whom is trained to handle these type of situations.
