Can my abused friend move in with me?

I am 19 years old and still live with my mom and grandma.. My friend is 16 and will be 17 in April.. Her adoptive mom (really her grandma) is “abusive” to her.. The lady makes her clean up after everyone in the house including her 2 brothers and her “mom”.. The house due to nobody helping her is absolutely discusting and smells of amonia. there are only path ways in the house to different rooms and the “mom” does not cook but 1 time a week if that. She practically lives with me already on the weekends, summertime(the whole summer), all holiday breaks and about 80% of the weekdays. Another bad thing is that when her little brother or older brother get sick they stay home from school she has the same virus they just had and her mom says that wether she has a fever or is throwing up she HAS to go to school. I need to know when she can legally move in with me.. her and our family are so close my mom thinks of her as a daughter and I think of her as a sister.. I really want to help her!

Answer #1

She can try to get emancipated.. if she can proove to a judge that she’s better off with your family && that she’s being abused then more then likely the judge will allow her to live with you. && In some states you can leave at 17 as long you stay in school && are living in a good environment.. Good luck hunn! (=
