How can I lose 12 lbs?

For about two weeks, I’ve been trying to lose weight by cutting off 500 calories a day (1500 calories). But all that’s happened, is I gained half a pound! Are there any other good ways to lose weight? I was hoping to lose 12 LBs by August 10th.

For most people loosing weight is difficult and gaining weight is easy.

Assuming a calorie deficit of 500 calories it would take a week to loose a lb. of weight. Of course it usually doesn’t work out this way, when you reduce your caloric intake your body assumes that food is scarce and starts conserving energy so weight loss will likely be slower. Also your weight varries a few lbs from day to day so the half pound you gained migh just be a different level of hydration.

The only way to loose 12 lbs in 3 weeks is with exercise and a very restrictive diet.
