I'm Starting A New College

I’ve finished my GCSEs and my school has a sixth-form centre, but I know that it is a load of bullshit, so I applied at a nearby college, whilst all of my other friends are going to sixth-form or another college.

My boyfriend was suppose to be going to the same college with me, doing a different course. So I wasn’t very unhappy, but my boyfriend applied for a course that is at the college’s other campus which is miles away.

I am really scared that I won’t make new friends and be alone in my class.

My question is: was college difficult for you to start?

Thank you.

I’m not close to starting college, but I know from teachers, and family..

College is hard. You put in your blood, sweat, and tears, and sometimes it’s for nothing.

You’ll be fine… I’ve lived in 5 different states, and I’ve gone to 8 different schoools and every time I thought, ‘I won’t fit in!!’ and every single time, I have.

Don’t let this answer bring you down, because this is the good side.

college may be hard, and your professers may be asses, but they’re just preparing you for the future.

College is one of the best things you can do in your life.

Just be careful, get enough rest, eat healthy and to keep your body fueled, don’t party too much, and make sure you have enough time for schoolwork.

You may need to do college for a week, then set a scedule, so stuff will be easier.

we had a class on how to handle college last year.. so if you’re feeling discouaraged or feeling down, fun mail me, and I’ll get back to you asap.

Don’t be one of the 60%!

Hey hun, I’m going back to my final year in college this year, but at first you may feel nervous, which is a natural thing to feel, but I settled in straight away, despite people saying it takes like a month or so to settle in. College is a fresh start, I felt so much better starting here, as I suffered greatly from being bullied all throughout primary and secondary school, but college has given me so much more confidence. I found that by starting a new college instead of going to my local sixth form, I have felt more mature, and am more prepared for the transition to university than most who remain at sixth form at their local high schools, as the campus is bigger, and the staff treat you like adults. If you want to talk to me more about it, or have any ohter questions, I’ll be glad to help you, let me know if you do. I’m sure you’ll get on great with starting it. By the way,I felt the same as you did, but I have made so many more friends at college despite my worries, as everyone was feeling like they may not settle in properly or make new friends, everyone does, but we shouldn’t really. You will meet loads of people in the same situation as you, so will be able to find some common ground to talk to them about. Just be yourself, and I’m sure you’ll make friends really quickly. xx
