Is it wrong not to believe in God?

is it wrong I dont belive in god.? my mom got cancer 6 months ago and I nvr really had a strong releshopship with god and now I just feel like if god were real he wouldnt be putting my mom through this or me and my family… is that wrong?

Answer #1

There’s nothing wrong with failing to believe in God.

The idea that there’s an all powerful god out there obsessing over whether or not people believe in it, is cartoonishly absurd.

The idea that you have to believe in god ‘or else’, is a nothing more than a manipulative tactic religions use to keep believers in fear so they won’t even question their beliefs. …classic cult mind control.

Its your choice..you do have free will…who are we to judge?

Answer #6

I think that everything happens for a reason, and God doesn’t interfere with nature unless it is very, very necessary. God doesn’t want people to be put through horrible things, but it just happens. Bad things happen to good people and we will never know the answer to why it occurs, but it does and you just need to remember to never take life for granted and to love your mom. Spend time with her every chance you get. Pray that she will get better soon. If you don’t believe in God, that is your decision. While I don’t agree with it, it doesn’t mean that I or anyone else should disrespect your for it. Faith is hard to keep, it’s easier to just give up. The true test is to keep your faith through the toughest parts of your life.

Answer #7

No pet, its not wrong. You are going through a very tough time right now. Its natural to question what is happening and why. I know what its like, my mam died of cancer when I was your age and I felt the same for a while. I hope your mom gets better, cancer treatment is so much better these days so don’t loose hope. If you need anything just FM me.

Answer #8

if thats yo culture I belive in him but I need to go to church to confirm that

Answer #9

I don’t think there is anything wrong with not believing in God but then again, I haven’t believed in God since I was 12.

I’m sure believers will chime in and tell you that you have to keep your faith, God is inscrutable, you mom’s cancer is the work of Satan, or that God is testing you. To me Christianity is a Santa Claus for adults. Of course you have to decide for yourself though.

Answer #10

There are at least two of us Christians on this site whose mothers have cancer at the moment, so I really feel for you - my mum is too young for this, and it must be worse for your family, being even younger. It’s not wrong to question God, or even to get angry, at times like this. But the other lady and I haven’t lost our faith, so it’s not an essential part of the anger and hurt. My advice is to call out to God, ask him what’s going on, ask why it feels like he’s abandoned you (even Jesus did that) and, in my opinion, expect an answer! Not an easy ‘magic wand’ answer, but at least strength and comfort for you and your family.

There are some Good answers on this page, but I would like to tell about a man named Job. Job had a large family and great wealth, and he was completely faithful to God. The Bible records that Satan went before the Lord to accuse, and the Lord asked the Devil if he had considered His servant, Job, who was upright and faithful. Satan told God that Job was faithful because God had blessed him and placed a hedge of protection around him. Satan challanged God claiming that if God would take all of Job’s family and possessions away, then he would curse God. God allowed Satan power over Job and his family with the exception of taking Job’s life. In one day, Satan killed all of Jobs family and had all of his possessions either destroyed or stolen. Job’s response to this was, “The LORD gives and the LORD takes away, blessed be the name of the LORD.” As a result, GOd restored everhthing to him tenfold. The moral of the story is that God is in control whether or not we understand his ways. Therefore, Trust in Jesus.

Answer #12

Your mother getting cancer was coincidental, not religion related. I,myself, do not belive in god. I have very strong views on the corrupt-ness of the church, and religion it self. Every thing happens for a reason.

Answer #13

There is nothing wrong with that.

Answer #14

It’s okay not to believe (you can’t force yourself after all). What’s important is having good morals (like “no killing people”), or karma/bad luck will bite you on the butt.

Personally I had an experience with loosing a a closed friend that was like a step sister I was aorund 12 years old when she died a little young to know whats death but I never stoped beliving in god even though people told me he wasent real god was MY STRNGHT AND MY HELP AND MOST IMPORTANT MY GUIDANCE. I am 18 now and im blessed wiht 20 closed friend and I love them each and one of them as a brother and siter. Answer #16

I am so sorry you are going through this. I have been through it also. Too many times in my life. Both parents, a sister, and my mother-in-law. Questioning the existence of god at a time like this is perfectly normal. You have enough stress to deal with, and if there is a god, he should not want you to be even more stressed because of him. I would say not to worry about it, and just concetrate on your mother. That is really what counts, not belief in god. What you believe will have no bearing on the outcome.

Answer #17

CAncer and everything like it are part of living in a fallen world. There are times when God does intervene in situations like this, and he can certainly help you thru it. Running to God, is much more beneficial than running from him. I wish you the very best. If we never had anything to trust God for, we would not need faith, and that is what we are to live by. It is very hard, when that faith is tested… and we need to be as prepared as we possibly can, when things are running smooth, and we don’t face a crisis. If we feed our faith, and continue to do so, the trial will be much less severe.

Answer #18

no not unless I’m wrong I do not know what my reigion is either and to be honest it feels good not to have to try and force myself to believe anything I deep down do not want to and hey who knows someday we might decide we do believe but in the mean time I’d suggest forget about “god” and focus on your mom.

Answer #19

no it is not wrong at all. we all have the right to believe what we want

Answer #20

There is never anything wrong with not believeing in god.

Answer #21

youve just got to have faith its harder for some people than others…there is a reason your mom is going through this you may not know what it is yet but he might be preparing you for something even bigger in your life that might happen and IF!!! your mom does pass which doesent always happen then he might be saving her from something that she wouldnt be able to handle in the future…OH and by the way my grandma had cancer about a year and a half ago it as I think stage 4 or 5 whichever is the worst you can get and now shes fine the doctors said there is absoluely no sign of cancer so just hang in there sweetie.
