I caught the same virus again???

A few weeks ago I caught a virus, and now, yesterday, I have caught it again… is this weird… I thought that once you had it, your body becomes more immune to it… it is the first time I have caught something a second time so soon after the first time.

Is this normal???

Thanks

Answer #1

If viruses didn’t work like that, they wouldn’t be viruses. They would be bacteria.

Answer #2

When I worked at a day care, I caught the flu, then got better. A week later, I caught it again, and got better. A couple of weeks later, I caught it again. When you continue to expose yourself to the virus, you can still catch it.

It’s called mutation. You will NEVER catch the same cold twice. It’s just that there are thousands upon thousands of strains currently circulating.
