First…all animals are light sleepers…and cats are by nature nocturnal…at 6 months, she’s probably still trying to overide her natural “schedule” to fit in with your human schedule. Patience it would seem, will be the key…when she finally figures out you’re just going to the bathroom, or whatever and will be right back…OR, if she’s like my cat was…will do this for the next 15 years…Cats pretty much do what they please.

As for her shyness…well, different breeds…different personalities…my kitty David, like me ONLY…tolerated my husband…and other than that, no one ever touched him…he simply wouldn’t allow it, and I didn’t force him…he’s a cat afterall :).

He passed away two weeks ago…at 15 years old…You’ll probably find me on here asking YOU questions!! I love cats, but dogs are much easier to understand for me.

No your cat is absolutely normal (well atleast mine behaved exactly the same when I first got her). First of all she’s in the tricky stage where all cats are just a pain… Secondly cats dont like closed doors (if you figure out this one please let me know, I would love to go to the bathroom without company) I got a kitty door to solve the a/c problem… As for the crying in the night, she thinks you’re awake and wants attention… ignore the crying and do not give her any attention, any attention will be positive reinforcement and she will continue… (this no attention thing will take her a while to figure out, you just need to be patient…) Anything that you need to teach her will take time… just either punish the behavior (I lock her out of my room or in the bathroom for a couple of mins) or ignore it As for the other people thing, some cats dont like other people, or they get nervous when there are too many people… I wouldnt worry about it, let your cat be, eventually it will get used to other people, or it may not, either way, why force it to socialize?
