Well, my parents potty trained my two cats by making sure the litter box was cleaned daily. They also put it in the bathroom, away from their eating areas, as studies show cat’s don’t like their daily objects soiled. Anyways, my dad had the idea of putting shiny shredded newspaper in the litter box to attract the cat. The cat was attracted, and my dad checked on the litterbox in about an hour, nothing. He basically just repeated checking on the litterbox to see if the cat had…well left his droppings in there. If the cat did, he would get a treat. If not, it wouldn’t get a treat.
Cat’s naturally like to use litterboxes. When I worked at the animal shelter the cats generally figured the litter box out. All we did was put a litter box down and they just took to it.
