How to tell my mother about boyfriend?

So my mom vaguely knows that this guy, aka my boyfriend likes me and that we went to prom together. Oh and that we generally hang out with a big group of people.

She doesn’t know that I’ve been seeing him for over a year, that I’m sexually active, and that I really like him.

My mom isn’t one to discuss sex openly, and sometimes gets awkward when topics like that spring up. How should I let her know?
