How to stop Breast Milk?

I breatfed my daughter longer than most people. She was two and three months when I finally managed to stop completely. I struggled with her to completely give it up. The problem now is that its been about 7 months since I have completely stopped breastfeeding and I still have milk. It is not a lot of milk but it is still there! any advice or heard of this

My wife was told by the OB/GYN that the best way to stop breasts from producing milk is to stop stimulation to the breast. Your body will should realize what is happening and stop production.

It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few month for you to dry up. I only breastfeed my son for a month, and it took me well over a month to stop leaking and engorging.

-Use cold compresses (cabbage leaves work good) -If you have to pump to relieve the pain, only pump enough to not be engorged, dont empty your breast.

  • Usually it’s best to wean off, then to stop cold turkey. If you wean off your body stops making as much and it’s easier.
  • Dont bind your breast, it makes it worse.
  • Dont put heating pads on your breast, it makes it worse. Hot showers make it worse also.
  • Dont wear clothing that will stimilate your nipples, that will cause you to produce more milk. -Talk to your doctor, they have pills now that are made to dry you up also.

Talk to your ob-gyn, and stay on top of exams.
