Pay particular attention to these paragraphs -

**Eating junk food is a hard habit to break because your body literally begins to crave it. Instead of junk try eating fruit like apples, grapes, peaches, and pears. They will curb that sweet tooth without all the unhealthy sugary-ness (not a word I know) Instead of potato chips try a pack of crackers (like the Lance snack packs) or popcorn with light, or if you can stand it, no butter. I also really like graham crackers with some peanut butter. Dipping it in milk is tasty, like cookies! Plus PB has protein in it so you feel full with out having to eat a lot. Smoothies are great if you make them at home because you can control how much sugar is in it. Or if you get it at a place like Smoothie King or Tropical ask them to make it with no sugar and skim milk or yogurt instead of whole milk. Yogurt is a great snack (try it with granola) or whole grain club crackers with slices of extra sharp cheddar cheese (you can buy it in a block at the grocery store)

Cut out soda. As a reality check take a sandwich baggie and fill it half way with sugar and take a good long look…that is how much sugar is in a regular can of Coke. I lost 7.5 pounds in a month just from cutting out soda. Instead drink juice or better yet, water.

You don’t have to stop eating all your favorite things forever, just eat them in moderation. If you do splurge a little, don’t beat yourself up; just work out a little harder the next day.**

Cheers!

To keep it simple, I would recommend a few things.

  1. Don’t do anything drastic. Exercise a LITTLE more, eat a LITTLE less. Don’t try to rush it, or you’ll just give up or give into to over-eating or not exercising.

  2. Try to focus on building muscle instead of burning calories. Doing this will increase your metabolism, and also the amount of calories your body needs everyday, meaning that even if you miss a day or two of exercising, it’s okay because your body is burning extra calories on its own. Do things like holding a squat position, keeping your arms stretched out, anything that requires a lot of endurance. These kind of exercises will building muscle, but not bulk, which can be just as bad as fat if you’re trying to change the way you look.

  3. Focus on eating healthier instead of eating less. Stock up on vegetables, especialy salads. I lost about 15 pounds over about three weeks just by replacing one meal a day with a salad.

  4. If you drink soda, stop. I’ve had friends that lost 5-10 pounds just by not drinking soda anymore. Soda is your worst enemy empty calories that will go straight to fat.

Dieting doesn’t solve anything, you will diet and loose weight, but as soon as you stop the diet or slip-up a bit, you will gain all the weight back easier than when you first put it on.

Instead of a diet, you need to change your lifestyle. Work vegetables and fruit into your daily routine, and keep yourself busy for example, join a sports team. You will keep busy with your mind off sweet foods, and get exercise.

Each day, eat a good breakfast, it will prevent you from snacking. Have something like, a piece of fruit, 2 pieces of toast and yoghurt. On the toast you could have jam or honey, as its important to get some sugar in our diet. Just be careful what you buy as some cheaper brands are so unhealthy you may as well just eat lollies.

for lunch, have 2 sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, cheese, avocado, chicken/fish… pretty much anything you want. Just not nutella or those sweet spreads. Fresh fruit and veges are sooo good for you.

For dinner you could have pasta, rice, anything easy, and just add vegetables to it. Capsicum, cucumber, leeks, celery, carrots, broccoli, cabbage are just some ideas. Add olives and cheese for a more italian taste.

For a quick and easy dinner, make double of the food you make the night before and eat it cold or heated up the next night. You could also eat it cold or heated for lunch the next day.

If you get hungry in between meals, things like carrot sticks and healthy dips, nuts, or air popped popcorn and good.

Things like sausages are very very fattening and very bad for your health. Opt for coleslaw or potato salad at barbecues. and eat things like mini sandwiches and drink lighter drinks at parties.

You don’t have to cut out every single bad food for your whole life. You can have an ice cream with your friends in the weekend, and eat popcorn at the movies. But its all about moderation. Have a single scoop, or a small popcorn.

Also, make sure you drink plenty of water. 10 glasses a day. water flushes out our systems, and it really really good for you.

Try to exercise 3 or 4 times a week. You could get up early 3 days a week and go for a run, or do sit-ups. Sit-ups are great they are so simple and don’t require you to leave the house! You can just watch TV and in the ad breaks do as many as you can, increasing the amount you push yourself to each time.

You don’t need to buy expensive gym equipment, just make up your own exercises. It can be fun too.

Good luck :)

The most important things for you to keep in mind are: exercise, drink a lot of water, eat fruits and/or vegetables in every meal, and avoid junk food.
