ok.. I have a pitbull before and it kills chicken, but not all are like that, it started when they are puppies. they chase any object until they grew up. they will be used to it and thinks its normal (like playin)…but if you trained them as early as posible they will not.. hope I helped. :)

Teachel, what breed of dog have you got? mines a terrier, and she would probably kill anything like that, we cant even let her near any other dogs, she tries to bite other animals, luckily she never has, but we’re more careful with her now.

Isn’t it doggie nature to kill chickens? Seems to me, you have to keep them apart. The only other thing I can think of, is to feed your dog more often. Maybe he’s just hungry.

Answer #5

ummm…have the chickens outside of the house in the back yard… and the dog in the house away from the chickens…maybe? I’m not too sure really… cause I dunt own any chickens… well at least not here in Canada… but I do in Indonesia… well more like chicks… well they were chicks the last time I saw them!!… I bet they grew into hens or roosters!! lol

Answer #6

well if you asked me maybe try to train him or her if she is the right kinda breed for that kind of training. or you should bring the chickens to a diffrent area. or you could keep your dog out of the backyard and teach him to pee on newspapers in the house instead of outside. or maybe you could punish him everytime he kills one of your chikens. maybe if your okay with it you could put one of those little shocking collars around his neck everytime he kills the chickens. Good Luck!

Answer #7

I think that about the only option you have now that the dog has already killed a chicken is to keep them separated…that’s just the nature of how things are…
