How can I get my dog used to a new baby?

My dog constantly wimpers when I hold my newborn! How can I make sure hes not getting jealous

Dogs get nervous/excited in new company. You should have taken a blanket or cap from the baby and brought it home. Then let the dog sniff it for a couple minutes each day until the baby came home so when the dog was introduced to the baby he would associate the baby’s scent with it’s owner. Unfortunately, it sounds as though the baby was already brought home so I would try to give him attention while holding the baby. (for example: when the baby is sleeping in your arm, pet the dog) Dogs will get jealous, you just need to show them a little extra love!

hope this helps!

Make sure your pup is getting some attention of his own (just as if you’d brought home a new pup)…I like the idea of giving him something with the smell of the baby on it…familiarizes the babe and the dog…maybe buy a new receiving blanket (a cheapie from Walmart)…swaddle the baby in it for a day, and lay it in the dogs bed…
