How can I ask for help off my doctor?

Basically I’m 16 years old and I’ve suffered with eating disorders since I was 11 ! I’m not going to go into all the details, basically I’m anorexic but now I feel like I should get help ! I have a doctors appointment on Monday, and knowing me I will just freeze and not know what to say so I’m wondering if you could help me ask her, like what should I say to my doctor to help to recover from anorexia and bulimia, I basically just need help and motivation and obviously I need time to think about it which is why I’m asking now.

Sorry if you think this is a stupid question, but its really important to me.

Write it on your arm in permanent marker before your physical. Then its hard to wash off and you can finally take the first step to getting help.

It’s not a stupid question is achually smart that you have decicded to get help.

But I think that the words that you will start with is..

“ Doctor, I have been going trough a lot lately and part of that is because im causing it myself.”

OR

“ doctor I have something to say…”

You know start the conversation slowly you don’t have to say it right out, you can satrt slowly and just you know.. Say to her you need help with something… she will understand and is there to listen and take care of you too.

Too late for you (it’s been 5 months since your post) but maybe this answer can help others:

Write down what you want to say, and give the paper to the doctor when he/she comes into the room. Start the paper by writing “I am really scared to talk about this so I wrote down the things I need you to help me with because I’m too nervous to start the conversation.” Then explain in writing that you believe you are anorexic and bulimic and you need help for eating disorder issues, etc.

That way the doctor can begin the spoken conversation with focused questions and you don’t have to break the ice first.
