How do I ask my doctor for a boob reduction off the NHS?

I’m 16. My boobs are giving me back pains, neck pains, discomfort and I don’t like to do active things much as i’m shy of running/doing sports because they are on the big side. They are 42G and just.. annoy me like mad! They get in the way, they make me feel self-concious about my body and I never find clothes that fit me. It’s hard to find bikinis or tops will fit me at the boobs but be super baggy at my stomach. I’ve lost weight but my boobs haven’t lost any weight.

On the NHS, things are free. I don’t just want one for the sake of having one…

How do I ask my doctor and does anyone know if it’s difficult or easy to get one? There must be some waiting list i’m guessing… Does anyone know the average time someone is on the waiting list for?

My parents will be fine with it, they can give parental consent I just.. don’t know how to ask my doctor.

Answer #1

Maybe if it’s health threatening in some way?

Answer #2

That didn’t help much :(

Answer #3

If you want smaller boobs…. THATS CRAZY! Lol but just straight up ask.

I don’t know why the fck girls want big boobs all the fcking time. I mean, oh yay they are nice to f*cking look at. After a while they are paranoid because guys just want them for their boobs and you can get sexually harrassed because of it. You don’t take part in physical activity because you don’t want people looking at you running because you KNOW people will stare. They give you back pain, they are in the way and you feel abnormal with them.

WANTING that… is crazy!!! ¬_¬

Answer #5

Wouldn’t you want guys liking what you got? But I’m a guy so i don’t really understand.

Answer #6

A girl’s life doesn’t revolve around what guys would WANT on them.

Answer #7

Sadly your right and that sounds really messed up LOL

Answer #8

Zach, You try carrying two melons under your shirt and see how hot you feel the next day.

Answer #9

You should definitely talk to your doctor and see what can be done. See what your insurance might cover and what age the procedure can be done. I haven’t heard of a girl under 18 getting a reduction before.. or if they’ll make you wait until you’re fully developed or what, but just talk to your doctor and ask them what they think.. have her look at your back and neck and make sure it’s your breast size that is causing the pain. I’m barely D and I can’t even sleep on my back because it feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest, so I can’t imagine what you have to go through.

Answer #10

i think what cas is trying to say is that if your boobs are causing you to feel ill over other parts of your body then this is what you need go on.

be honest when you talk to them. you know just tell them that your boobs are making yoor back hurt.

if i may quote you “My boobs are giving me back pains, neck pains, discomfort and I don’t like to do active things much” this is what you tell the doctor as their all health related.

you will prob be sent to hospital for a few tests then.

Big boobs can cause serious health problems later on. Even some insurance companies pay for it because they realize that it is cheaper to pay for it than it is to pay for the health problems that will arise later on. You’re talking about a serious health risk, just tell your doctor. It’s not like she or he wont understand what you’re talking about. They may advise you to wait till you’re fully developed and they stop growing, or they may not. Either way, you definitely should just tell them.

Answer #12

id pay to be a woman for a day… now wheres that air freshener

Answer #13

Thanks Moe. This helped quite a bit. :)

Answer #14

One thing to keep in mind though, is if you plan on having kids and breast feeding them, that is not always possible after breast reduction if too much is removed. I have a friend who is a 44H (@ age of 23) but she is going to wait until after she has kids to have the breast reduction done because she wants to breast feed her kids. Just something to keep in mind, and something to ask your doctor about if its and issue for you.

Answer #15

It’s not really an issue for me. I can bottle feed my baby in the future when I have one. I know breast feeding is much better but I can deal with the consequences of having a boob reduction. I mean, i’d honestly rather have no boobs than the ones I have.

Answer #16

Thats fine, just thought I would throw that bit of info out there in case you didn’t know and it was a concern for you.

Answer #17

No problem :)
