Will my parrots beak grow back?

ugh my idiotic brother trimmed my quaker parrots beak! she’s not bleeding or anything it was only the little sharp thing at the tip so now its in the shape of a square kinda I don’t know, it looks like she’s struggling 2 eat a bit but she’s still manages to crack her seeds open ( some) , well my question is will her beak grow back? & if so about how long would it take? is there anything I can give her to help make it grow faster? ( btw she’s 3 years old) TY!!

A parrot’s beak is made of keratin ( the same stuff your finger nails are made of ). As the parrot eats or chews its toys etc. the beak constantly wears down and regrows ( like your finger nails ). So to answer your question, yes, your parrots beak will regrow again in time. But I would like to know why did he trim your parrot’s beak, was it overgrown? An overgrown beak could be a symptom of an illness or a lack of vitamins. If that is the case, have your bird checked out by an avian vet. Also, you should never attempt to trim a parrots beak yourself as you can seriously hurt your bird. Rather have the beak trimmed by an avian vet. Anyway, if you provide your bird with a healthy, balanced diet, plenty of wooden chew toys and an iodine block and/or a cuttlefish bone, it shouldn’t be necessary to trim his/her beak.

Werner is correct. Our one parrot is close to 30 years old and she has never had to have her beak trimmed. The beak will grow back, but in the meanwhile take the parrot to a vet to get it checked out since it might starve if it can’t eat properly. Also remember to give it (if it’s allowed) a lot of fruit to be compensating for the mess that your brother made.

Oh and in future, please don’t clip birds’ beaks or toenails unless you know what you are doing, because the bird could end up bleeding to death.

Answer #3

They do grow, but it’s not going to happen overnight. If she’s having difficulty eating, then she may end up starving. I’d suggest a trip to the vet to fix it (and not allowing your brother near your bird again)

Answer #4

at the vet hospital we do trim birds nails and beaks but there is a right and wrong way of doing it.

Answer #5

nah id think thats neccessary

Answer #6
