Answer #1

I also learned that writing notes helped. And I used to take short notes in class, then rewrite and expand the notes at home.

Answer #2

Yes.

Instead of trying to memorize the material, make an effort to understand it. If you understand it, the answers will come to you because they are now obvious.

I have very visual memories, so I use mnemonics. It’s taking your idea and making it memorable enough in your head by making up visuals in your head connected to the idea that you want to remember.

For example, if you want to remember going grocery shopping before walking the dog, imagine giant carrots and shopping carts raining from the sky towards your head and then running into a bone-shaped dog kennel for shelter!

It’s not that you are a forgetful person, everyone can have good memory, if you exercise it. You brain is aching every second to make connections and associations to everything. You can recall a chapter in your history book that is akin to a certain wrestling match if you’re a wrestling fan, it’s stuff like that - you work with what you have.

I would suggest writing notes. sounds stupid but it worked for me even in college, make up a stupid song. you’ll feel dumb, but you’ll remember, and when the grade is good… how dumb can you feel then ;) ? also, use associations. example, I used this when I was younger and couldn’t differentiate between acute and obtuse angles, so… I associated acute with a cute girl. if she’s cute, you want to “get in” w. her, so to speak. take it how you want it, but that simple association made me remember that thing like nobodys business lol.

Answer #5

Writing notes is a great way to remember things and even saying them out loud can some times helps you remember things easier. When I have a lot to read while studying I read a section of it and then look back and ask myself what was it saying like do I understand it. and then move on to the next section don’t just read everything all in one. it tends to get boring if it’s not interesting and your mind will go off and think about other things and you won’t understand any of it.

Answer #6

I think you need a new studying method - people have different methods that work for them, this one clearly isn’t for you. You need to figure out a method that IS for you. You can search different methods on the internet. Me personally, the method that works for me is writing down notes point form. Writing them down again to study makes me remember them much more easier. Reading everything wouldn’t do a thing for me.
