What would you need to have a hedgehog as a pet in the UK?

Firstly you would need a forest or woodland…some where natural for the little fella to play,sleep,eat….live…a place where he can hibernate and carry his thousands +of little flee friends around with him too….also you would need slugs,beetles,centipedes ect to maintain his healthy diet. YAY!!! Hedgehogs!!! :DDDDD Okay Stefie… The best thing to feed a hedgehog is cat food. lol Don’t give ‘em dog food ‘cause it’ll make them fat. Don’t get them any kind of cat food with fish in it ‘cause he/she won’t like it. ;P

You can keep him/her in an aquarium or some sort of box. It’s not hard to find a place to put them, just make sure that the place that they are kept will never be cold and they won’t escape.

You can put a towel in his/her house for him/her to sleep in.(: They like sleeping under a towel a lot.(: You can use a little set of dog bowls or cat bowls for food and water. Always make sure they have water in there with them.(:

DON’T over feed them. Make sure they don’t just keep eating and eating forever. ): The ones that are in the wild have to work hard for the littlest bit of food and are thin and can run around very easily. You don’t want a super fat hedgehog. lol

They love to run on wheels. lol We have a wheel in with our two and all day they run on their wheel.(: It’s good exercise for them.(: You can give them a toilet paper tube to play with. ;P It’s not the greatest idea to leave their tube in the cage with them while you aren’t watching them though. /:

We put cat litter at the bottom of their cage and clean it out every few days, but you would have to clean it out more often the smaller the cage is for the hedgehog. (: They love fresh cut grass. ;PP If anybody mows their lawn around you just grab a hand full and put it in a pile in the corner of their cage for them to play with. ;P :DD

The expense could be really good or not. lol depends on how many toys you get them and what kind of cat food. ;PP I think it’s not that bad, but it just depeneds.
