Heavy bleeding whilst on the pill

I have been on the pill for 5 months now but when it comes to the week off I have a heavy period. Is this normal in some cases and does it mean tha this pill is not effective on me and if that is the case does it mean that my chances of getting pregnant are higher? Or is the pill still effective even tho my periods are heavy?. I hope yu can help as I have mentioned it to my doctor but she says that its not that big a deal but to be honest I do not like the doctor I am with and am deffinetly thinking about changing.

I suggest definitely changing your doctor. However if you’re not having any other side effects and the bleeding is only during your withdrawal period, then it isn’t such a big deal.

I’m on the pill and still have heavy periods, however I have no other side effects and cramps etc are less so in my case it isn’t a problem.

In any case it’s never a bad thing to get it checked out by a doctor and make sure you ask them why it happens, don’t just take ok for an answer.
