Why do I have heavy bleeding while on the depo- provera shot?

I have been on the depo-provera shot for about two years now. After being on it for a year and a half, I began having heavy bleeding, which lasted for two weeks straight.it was so bad that I almost passed out a couple times from losing too much blood.when I went to the doctor, he switched me to the pill.I couldn’t remember to take it everyday so he later switched me back to the depo shot.I have been back on it for two months now and today I started bleeding again. Any advice or stories?

Get off the shot and set a schedule for yourself to remember to take the pill every day. The Depo is terrible. I had it after my son because of the same reason, couldn’t remember to take it every day. It stopped my periods all together. It blew up like a balloon, my hair and skin got dry, I lost my sex drive, and my body didn’t feel like my own.

Excessive bleeding can be a side effect just like not having a period can be depending on how your body chemistry reacts to it.

One week after I was supposed to go back and get the shot and didn’t I lost 2 sizes. In one week! Nothing else changed. Just the chemicals of the shot leaving the body.

Bottom line…get off the shot. There are other things you can do other than the pill. There is the new murena (not spelling that right) that is an insert that they put in at the doctor’s office. Simple procedure. It’s a drug free contraceptive. There are patches, pills that are once a week, etc…
