What is going to happen with the T-Mobile customers now that AT&T has bought them?

Answer #1

i would say it would stay the same just a different company owns it , it might change the name but nothing more.

AT&T allowed some of the T-Mobile board members on to their board team, thus I don’t think many changes will be made to T-mobile, at least not to begin with. The merge itself will take a while, and you might see a lot of small changes more than anything, but according to an AT&T CEO statement that I read on CNN, this is supposed to mostly help the AT&T data and tower issue, so if anything we’re supposed to expect lower rates.

However, due to the capitalization of members now, having millions more than the previously leading phone company, you would expect the temptation to raise prices to be quite hard to resist. I have T-Mobile, so I’m hoping this is not the case.

Well for one the merge/buyout wont be completely finished for several years, and they still have to run a lot of things by the FCC and other gov’t agencies, and that is plenty of polishing to be done on the finally contracts.

One big changes that you will see tho, is T-mobile 3g service is going to go away once everything is fully merged: “T-Mobile subscribers with 3G smartphones will have to purchase new devices if the buyout is completed. AT&T reportedly plans to reallocate T-Mobile’s 3G spectrum to 4G, so current 3G phones won’t have wireless broadband access” http://funadvice.com/r/bhoa6a2j1di But your not going to see changes tomorrow like that, could take several years - and by then a lot of people will have switch phones. Other than that it removes competition, which is never good for the consumer, and puts AT&T a little to close to a monopoly for my taste.

Thx

Answer #5

Yep. I wouldn’t sweet too much about it right now tho. They still have A LOT of work to do before the buyout becomes final, and still more work after that to merge the two systems.

Cool thx
