I get migraines. I typically only get a few bad ones a year.

I get migraine with aura or visual disturbances. When one of these headaches comes on I get either blind spots, pulsing lights, or I see lines that look like when you burn your retna from looking at the filament of an unfrosted light bulb. Sometimes I can’t see well enough for normal activities like reading or driving. My worst migraines also include nausea, lethargy, and my gums, lips, and arms get numb..

Lately I’ve had a few migraines that aren’t as bad. Usually just a little visual disturbance and a slight or no headache. These last around 20 minutes while a full blown migraine can last many hours.

I’m a little worried because my 5 year old daughter started getting headaches and was diagnosed with migraines. I don’t remember getting them until I was in high school. While my headaches are’t very often or bad my mom gets debilitating headaches frequently.

I know I’m getting one because my vision starts to get really weird. I feel like I have tunnel vision. during the migraine, I get nauseous and sometimes throw up, I’m very sensitive to light and sound, and ibuprofen won’t help it.

I take maxalt for them and it totally works. if you’re getting them, totally talk to your doctor about it.

I get queasy before I get the full-fledged migraine. My head and neck start to hurt. As the migraine progresses, my eyes get very sensitive to the light and the pain in my head becomes severe. It does not feel like a tension headache but rather like a pain that’s deep inside my brain.

Some people are genetcally prone to migraine. Some get them because of fluctuating hormone levels. There are other reasons too.

Topamax is a great med that prevents migraines. When you do get one, you might try Imitrex or Relpax. You’ll need a doc’s prescription for any of these.

Both my wife and son get them. It almost always results from skipping breakfast.

My right hand fingertips go numb, and that feeling travels up through my right arm and through my face and mouth, then to my chest and stops at my heart. THEN THE DREADFUL PAIN!! Its so bad all I can do is squirm around and moan. Once I even asked God to take my life because the pain was so bad. I throw everything up. even water. but I have to keep drinking water everytime I throw up so I wont get dehydrated. This lasts about 6 hours, if, I get one before 2pm. But if I get one later, it lasts all night. drifting off to sleep, waking up to puke, then going back to sleep. Then, the next day, I have to take it easy because my head hurts if I turn arount too fast. So, I’m pretty much bed-ridden. And for about a week after, my abs and diaphragm are sore from all the puking. To the point where I cant even bear to take in a deep breath.

so thats how MY migranes go. I’m not sure about anyone else.

I swear, none of this was exaggerated. Not one bit of it. My mom used to sit and cry because she saw me in so much pain. My doctor has given me Axert and Imitrex and niether worked. So he told me to just bear the pain and not to kill myself! lol
