my friend, is telling me on facebook about how she needs braces, but her parents wont pay for it, and how her dentist says she needs them badly, but yet, her parents wont. any advice will be greatly appreciated.
No, unfortunatly the state doesnt cover braces unless she is under an insurance program like medicaid and they are medically neccasary for her health, not just for cosmetic reasons. The do hav orthodontist that will do payment plans and have discounts however, she would need to call around and ask in her area which ones allow this. If her parents wont pay though the only other options is getting a job and making the payments herself.
I had braces for 5 years, which was a few thousand dollars. My parents never paid anything, because I have insurance (medicaid). I can go to the doctor, hospital, dentist, get medicine, etc...without pay anything. Medicaid pays for it all.
Sometimes your insurance can pay for them, or if you have medicaid. Only some states provide medicaid that pays for orthodonistry, so you and your friend may want to check and see. Hope this helps.
