For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again; but the wicked are overthrown by calamity. Now I just want know what your opinion on this sentence rom 24:16 of the bible. Tell me what you think it means

Answer #1

A righteous man has the strength within, is fortified by the Holy Spirit - the wicked are left to their own devices.

Answer #2

Here’s the bottom line. All of humanity is “fallen”. Because of Adam and Eve’s original sin in their disobedience to God, sin came into the perfect world God created for them, and it became imperfect.

Our only hope in this life is to recognize “We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory” Rom. 3:23. And this goes for ALL of us…even Christians. You see we are never made righteous on our own but only through the work Christ did for us at Calvary shedding His innocent blood to make restitution to God on our behalf for all the sin of humanity.

What about Christians, do they still sin? Yes, just because we accept Christ doesn’t mean we will never sin and mess up in this life again. That would be unrealistic since only our spirit gets born again. We still have to wash our minds with the truth from God’s word, and it takes submission to God and His word to overcome our flesh. We don’t always get it right.

But God promises if we confess our sins, and ask for forgiveness He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness: I John 1:9.

HE is the ONLY one who can do that for us. And HE actually ascribes HIS righteousness to us. We NEVER can DO anything on our own to be righteous.

So on the falling part of the question.

When we fall, we ask for forgiveness, He forgives us, and we get up again. We will do this over and over until we are with HIM face to face in His perfect presence. Then and only then will we BE perfect.

Answer #6

Yahh… it means something for men… but not for women… women are not men…

Answer #7

Well, we can think in eternal or mortal perspective. Of course, Atheists don’t believe in the prior, so it’s a mute point.

Answer #8

Well, what it means is that “righteous” men will overcome obstacles and “wicked” men will not.

It isn’t true of course, but that’s what it means.

Answer #9

—Everything they have tried to teach almost everyone is against.—

Really? Because the United States remains a predominately Christian nation. It’s just most people don’t vote. Mostly it’s young people who don’t like their parents, so they go to the extremes to be anything but like their parents. Which I understand from experience

I think what it means is that if you believe in something and have faith in its truth, you will continue to work towards it, even if you fail every time(in this verse’s case, following the laws and suggestions given by Christ), while a “wicked” individual will often not bother with the attempt, and even go to the extent to antagonize that which is good.

For the most part, I see its truth. The problem is that we have a lot of “Old” Christians who cling to tradition and such that younger people don’t often agree with or see wisdom in(if there is any). This is resulting in a lot of kids going “Atheist”, or in an almost equal number of cases, becoming “New” generation Christians(these are not commonly accepted terms, but it is makes things easier to divide Christians into these two simplified camps), who basically(or often, at least) say, “I believe in Christ, but because he loves me, and God will forgive me for anything, I can go do whatever I want,” even though they already know its wrong, at least according to the Bible. And of course, after that, they will try to come up with reasons to rationalize this, slowly corrupting and twisting the religion as I believe it is intended(though the older generations have done a fair enough job at that, as well.)

And the funny thing is that this is happening mostly with Judeo and Judeo-Christian religions. You don’t see it so often with others, though you do in the Atheist case.

Answer #10

men refers to men and women.Women are not exused ore exempted from the text.

it means a follower of christ (man or women) may be tempted by sin, but he will get back up stronger if he falls. he can’t get back up on his(or her own) but with the help of holy spirit he 9or she) can. This verse may not seem realistic because as if wicked is over coming the earth. Many pepole have fallen into sin, but haven’t gotten back up again. The song writers sins “We fall down, but we get up. A saint is just a sinner who fell down, but got up.”

Answer #11

I think it means that when you fail you need to pick yourself up and try again… no matter how many times it takes. and if you don’t than you are a failure

Answer #12

uhm I think it means in fantasy land the good succeed…

I think in reality, life doesnt work that way… plenty of “wicked” (whatever the hell that means) people are successful…

Answer #13

I think it means Good will ultimately triumph over evil, which take a look at the world today. That’s not true. Most people have sex before marriage, lie, and disobey their parents. I wouldn’t say most kill, but a lot of people do. Christianly has failed as a religion. ahaha It’s funny. Everything they have tried to teach almost everyone is against.
