What does "flight mode" mean on a cell phone?

It means that the phone does not try to make contact with and log in to the phone companies network (because there is no antenna anywhere anyway) and it means that the phone does nod send of any signals that might disturb board electronics of your airplane.

You can still use your phone to play angry birds, read e-books and similar stuff.

Basically all your service is temporarily off, I use it to save battery and play games on long trips~

It’s for when you are on a plane (or near the tarmac), you turn flight-mode ON in the plane so it stops your phone from receiving any calls/messages/emails and stops it from trying to connect with any networks or anything because that can interfere with the flight.

It just means you can still use your phone to play games etc, without running the risk of messing up the planes waves.
