Fire Belly Toads

Our fire belly toad recently died, he was almost 5 years old. He was a dark green on top and red/orange & black on the belly. When we found him he was red & black all over - no green left. Would you know why?

when they have recently eaten or for some reason are apy they are bright green on top. when it is dead it has no emotins or is hungry or full so I guess that may be a reason why it was red on top.

Well, it’s said that the colouring on their backs has a lot to do with their diet…meaning that depending on what they are eating, they can turn green, brown, or black.

Perhaps the black colour shows a lack of nutrient…just a guess.
