Where can I find past unemployment rates?

I need to find the unemployment rate for North Carolina during the 1930’s but haven’t been able to find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find it?

It’s a bit difficult to find the unemployment rate for North Carolina, specifically, but the general unemployment rate maxed at about 25% (1933).

Are you in North Carolina? Your local library may have transcripts of old newspapers that can contain good information on the economy in the 30’s.

This document has a few tables breaking down unemployment rates based on things like age, gender, and sector (see the tables starting from page 3).
