Do you ever find that your Religious Education services are there mostly to make money and to send kids to private school?

I was a little unclear in the title, but I really mean to ask if the religious education, (any Church that teaches public school kids about a religion for a fee) is lacking religion knowledge, but instead advertises the local religious private schools so they could make money? Or, are they overpricing the education (and making the courses end at a later year, like 10th grade) so they could make more money? I’ve been seeing a lot of this in my Parish lately…

Well they are offering classes to those who are of the faith but do not go to private school or can’t afford the whole private school tuition. Also they do this because students need to take certain classes to be able to receive communion, go to reconciliation, or be confirmed. (in the Catholic faith). they are making money off of it for sure, but at the same time they are obligated to offer religious ed.

Hm, I suppose you’re right. I think I should reword my top part though. I am kinda referring how the religious ed itself is trying too hard to get kids of it so they can go to private school, which is taking away from teaching. Tryna to see if a pattern is occurring where the people are using the power of religion to sell to us. I guess that means the favor really is the sacraments, not the education. I mean, I get some out of it, but it’s like every 3 classes a guy would come in and try to convince us to attend St. John’s. (rather my town’s public school) And today they did say that you can’t get a job in the Senate if you go to public school… in an ad video… haha I guess I was just a little mad.

Parishes are required to have some sort of education, and i’m sure they want more kids to keep the school going, and/or to make money. If the school is hurting for students then they are probably looking for students. if not then they probs just want more money.

My two kids go to private Catholic school. But I don’t think that they are there for making money, I mean like real business. They are set up to educate the values of the religion more deeply than those given in the public school and if they do have school fee that is because they need to pay the teacher. If at anytime they make us pay more, that is because they need to help other school for the needy. Private School based on religion is not there to make business. That is what I believe.
