Was it overdue for the Vatican to declare that Fernando Karadima was guilty of abusing children?

Where did you read this verdict? I can’t find it anywhere. Based just what on I know (as I haven’t read the piece you have regarding this), situations like this need to be handled with a delicate touch. It’s a simple matter for a group to come forward and make an accusation, and when this happens, the onus is placed upon the defendant (in this case, the priest) to prove his innocence. The problem with that is, there are two sides and nobody really knows the truth except the people directly involved. Allowing a guilty man to go free is just as bad as condemning an innocent one. These things take a lot of time and deliberation and it’s no easy decision.

Probably both. The vatican has been under fire for years now, mostly on child abuse and sexual abuse on children. The priest should be charged and sent to prison. The vatican should know that when their priests are in another place except the Vatican City, they will fall under that countries laws. Which means that these priests which sexual abuse or hurt children should be brought on the charges they deserve. It doesn’t help either that the vatican protects these horrible children hurting priests, by either moving them to another church or bringing them back to Vatican City.

And you think spouting a few words is sufficient punishment? What good does it do saying a few million words?
