My son just turned 18 and wants to get custody of his 2yr old son since the mom dropped him off severly month ago saying she was not ready to settle down with a child

Answer #1

It depends on what state you live in, but if your son wants custody of the child, he should be able to get custody relatively easy.

But he will have to prove he is able to care for the child. He will need to provide proof of employment, that he has somewhere to live, & be able to explain the situation and that he never wanted to let the child go.

But that he was to young (legally) to take custody of the child. Talk to you son, find out how he thinks, let him know you want to help him.

And make sure he is absolutely certain he is ready to stand up in a court room.

Because if a judge thinks at all that he is nervous because he is not sure, it might be difficult for him to be granted custody of the child.
