Who knows if it is possible for a face wash to cause break outs?

I have extremely sensitive skin, and I bought a face wash that helps to prevent acne (so it says), but I’ve been breaking out. I assumed it was because of the cold weather making my skin dry, but I was wondering if it was possibly the face wash?

Answer #1

It just depends on what kind of face wash. Personally, I don’t use face wash because it seems to make my skin oily, so I use regular bar soap and it seems to keep my achne away pretty good.

Answer #2

It could definitely be the face wash. It might not agree with you skin or you might have a slight allergic reaction to it.

Answer #3

Yepp, its definatlly possible. I have very oily skin and every single face wash i have tried has just made me break out, even if it says it “oil-controlled”. The only thing i can use on my face is regular soap and water. Proactives face wash worked for my skin also, but i got sick of paying for it when i could get the same results with soap.

Answer #4

yes it can, it happened to me i only used to wash my face with water and have showers everyday but then i started getting spots when i started using face wash!! So i think it really depneds on your skin, if you have greasy skin DO NOT moustrize, get a face mask or something and a face wash that drys your skin up. If you have dry skin, (shouldnt really cause spots ) then moustrize daily and again face masks, spot cream, blackhead elimination face washes theres LOADS :) x

Answer #5

Thanks. I never used to break out with just the normal face washes. But this one seems to burn just a little (which i thought was a normal part of the acne medication).

Answer #6

Yes, I actually break out from facial washes that are too harsh. I also have a super sensitive skin. Oh and regardless of what the product says, your face wash shouldn’t burn. That is why I stay away from products like clean and clear as well. It does more damage than it does good. And then, if you don’t have anything at the moment, clear aqueous cream can also be used to wash your face.
