Is chloasma (brown patches of skin on the face) caused by pregnancy, permanant?

This week ive gotten two spots on my face that look like a cluster of freckles, i know this is commen during pregnancy, but does anyone know if their permanant or will they fade?

Answer #1

I don’t think it has got anything to do with pregnancy. Maybe it is sun burns as sometimes later on skin starts becoming very sensitive and any over exposure to sun will cause black patches as you said. But the actual cause only your doctor can tell. So, better consult your doctor at the earliest

Thank you, however chloasma is caused by pregnancy, i know this and have read about it in my pregnancy books. I just couldnt find any information about whether its permanant or not.

Answer #3

I’m assuming this is the first time you’ve had it? Usually it diminishes after pregnancy, but it could end up coming back with following pregnancies.

Answer #4

Thanks Colleen. I never got them with my first pregnancy thats why i wasnt sure if they were permanant or if they would go awa.

Answer #5

I’ve been brushing up on my prenatal knowledge and I’ve read about this…supposedly if you had them in a previous pregnancy, you’re more apt to get them again in a subsequent pregnancy, and they usually fade/disappear after the baby is born but are sometimes permanent. My mom has a few small patches of permanent ones, she hasn’t been pregnant in like 22 years, lol.
