Is it bad to use an expired condom?

what will happen if i do? me and my bf are planning to have sex soon, but the condoms i have expired two months ago, should i get new ones? what happens when u use an expired condom? will we get an STD???

Answer #1

Expiration dates are there for a reason, is it really worth the risk. It’s more likely to rip. Just buy new ones.

Answer #2

Yes, do NOT use a condom if its expired.

Answer #3

Go and buy new ones. They are pretty cheap, and you don’t have to be a certain age to buy them. Except when I buy condoms, I get a really weird look from that person at the register coz I’m only 15 lol. Remember, if it’s not on, IT’S not on ;)

Answer #4

even a good old condom is nt 100 percent protective.. But an expired one!?? Aha…now u tell me!!!!

Answer #5

Yes. You don’t use an expire condom, it can break even when you put it on.

Answer #6

woah wait. Condoms expire?

Answer #7

oh no what happen if you use one ,

Answer #8

Sigh. I don’t care how old a person is. If you don’t know the answer to this, don’t freaking have sex.

How is an expired condom going to GIVE you an STD. You can only catch an STD if he has one, or vice versa.

Does he have an STD? If he does, you shouldn’t have sex with him. Condoms are between 66-75% effective against most STDs, they’re only 99% effective against pregnancy.

Yes, that means there’s a 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 chance you could catch an STD from someone who has it, EVEN WITH A CONDOM.

Which means continuous sex with the person, and at some point odds are you’re going to get the STD. As for what happens, it increases the risk of ripping or tearing. If it rips or tears, you may as well have not used one at all. Go out and buy a condom. Better yet, go get an education. Then have sex.

Answer #9

indeed they do.. they’re usually good for a couple years or so, but they do expire

Answer #10

look, Ty, you dont have to be an ass to answer my question. a simple “just go get a new pack of condoms” would suffice. you dont need to PMS at me. okay? it was just a question.

Answer #11

Yeah, I really do. It was a stupid question. Actually it was a bunch of stupid questions all rolled in one. If you really are that clueless, please spare us the eventual pregnancy and the eventual entrance into the dependency system. We have enough kids to deal with without adding one more clueless parent who just should have used a condom within it’s expiry date.

Answer #12

maybe thats why im asking, and you dont have to just assume things like that. you dont even know where i live. im not trying to be annoying. but you dont have to call me stupid. thats not necesarry at all. plus, this is under the category of cyberbullying. i really dont appreciate how mean ur being,. would u rather i not have asked and just gone ahead with it? of course not. so please. if you dont have anything nice to say. dont say anything at all. and no, im not really that clueless. but its better to ask questions than to do something regrettable. am i not correct?

Answer #13

No offence, but i’m pretty sure Ty is an Advisor, and she’s not stupid.. all she’s saying is if you have to ask this question, you probably shouldn’t be in the position to have sex in the first place

Answer #14

Actually being an advisor and stupid are not mutually exclusive. But nonetheless I do appreciate the support ben! And emmaluv, actually you’d be wrong (and not for the first time). Bullying involves repeated aggressive acts in order to enforce one’s power. So no, this would not be categorized under cyberbullying. Here’s the bottom line, either you are clueless, or you’re not. If you are clueless, be considerate and dont inflict that on your children. If you’re not, then why you would you be asking this question? If you know the answer, there’s no good reason to be asking.
