Emo or poser

Do you necessarily have to cut yourself to be considered emo? Its weird because a friend of mine cuts herself but dresses like everyone else but I have dyed black hair and an emo personality but I dont cut…at least not with a razor.

Answer #1

why you and most people need to realise is that emo has nothing to do with cutting thats self harm/mutilation and self harm is self harm, its in no other catagory or lable its a seriouse mental dissorder that people need to get help for, usually due to depression…which also has nothing to do with being emo.. feelings and emotions arnt put into labels, they have nothing to do with them if you or someone you know cuts, get help you need to talk about those problems, becausee most of them can be fixed

Answer #2

They are just LABELS!

If you follow the stereotype to fit into the label, then you need to work on your self esteem (I was going to say that you’ll be a loser too but I decided to be nice).

And what’s with this cutting deal? Where do they get the idea in the first place? It’s so dumb. They need to get help.

Um… people..? Get your own darn identity!

Answer #3

Urgh do you know what I HATE? Lol you probably dont care but im gonnna tell you anyway.. Cutting if a really serious problem that I got addicted to. why the hell do people fink they can go around cutting to just fit in with certain cliques? Its pathetic.. Cause you dont have to cut to be an emo-isant it more about the clothes and stuff?

Answer #4

Certainly not, they’re separate issues, one being very serious - some info: http://www.helpguide.org/mental/self_injury.htm
