Emancipation if I'm 18?

If I am 18 and I want to move in with my boyfriend and his family who is 16, can my mom have any say in it?

Answer #1

You might be able to do it with out her permission but it would be a very bad move on your part.

Boys, at an equal age, are not as mature and responsible as girls. If you move in with him you are hampering a couple of his most important developmental years.

I would suggest that you at least wait until he has finished high school and has gotten a job.

You both have the rest of your lives to enjoy together or separately so there is no need to rush into things now. You both still have a few “growing” years ahead of you that you should take advantage of before committing yourselves to a permanent relationship.
