If I drank a whole liter of water in 10 minutes (probably less) will it harm my kidneys?

That’s more than I drink in a day

Answer #1

It’s not gonna harm your kidneys. You should drink that much and more per day, just not all at once because there are other risks in doing that. (can’t think now what they are, I’m tired) Anyway water is good for your kidneys to help flush them out.

Answer #2

Drinking that much won’t harm you, you’re supposed to drink about 2 litres (8 pints) in a day Don’t do it all in one go though

Answer #3

The only harm I can see…is your falling or tripping over something trying to get to the bathroom.

Answer #4

Too much water at one time can flush out important nutirents from your system me thinks. :)

Answer #5

The average stomach is about 1 liter in size so it will fill you up temporarily until the water passes on to your small intestines where it is absorbed into the body.

1 liter of water in a short period of time is not a dangerous amount. The main danger of drinking large amounts of water is electrolyte imbalance which in some circumstances can be fatal. If you were to drink several liters that could be a problem though. Athletes have been encouraged to drink lots of water to avoid dehydration so much that they sometimes error the other way and dangerously overhydrate.

Answer #6

Well, I wouldn’t thing it would do a ton of damage, but it might. I heard about a lady that tried to drink a ton of water to win some competition and drowned herself from the inside… pretty scary! But that shouldn’t hurt your kidneys… I don’t think?
