What are some things I could do to help my dog be less afraid of thunderstorms?

play with it while thunderstorm is outside, or just make him think its ussual thing by watching thunderstorms videos on youtube with him ^.^

My dog one year just all of a sudden started being afraid of thunderstorms and she’ll whine or take cover in a closet or under a desk or look for someone up to be by and she shakes. We talk to her in like a good girl tone saying is that thunder like its a good thing. We really never found a way to cure it. and she has never gotten use to it after so many storms weve had, it’s just the loud noise and i don’t think she will ever become use to it.

its just their sense of earth vibrations. We dont feel that but dogs and other animals do.

Well dogs (depending on the breed) are small animals, atleast compared t ous, they can not understand the things we do like thunderstorms. So imagine hering huge loud crashes and you have no idea what or where its from, it would definately put a jolt into the person. Just try comforting the dog, be with it and pet it, rub its ears, give it a snack or two, just something to calm him/her down.

my dog takes cover aswell :P she goes where its rlly dark xD or the bathroom :P…. she then hides behind the toilet -.-‘’ but after its over shes fine again :)… i think this is one thing you CANT teach a dog…. its a loud big bang out of no where for them, and dogs hear so much louder than we do.
