Does God Punish?

People have told me that God hates the sin and not the sinner but is that true?

Answer #1

Well then I would suggest you read the bible and accept God into your heart then . Cause with your answer shows me you do not have God in your heart .

Answer #2

God tells us in His word, He hates sin (cannot even look upon it), but Loves the sinner (enough to provide a WAY to be in Heaven with Him, through the sacrifice of Jesus for your sins) - The only unforgivable sin is one that a believer, by very nature, could never commit. It is the sin of unbelief. As long as someone walks in unbelief, he cannot be forgiven. Once he rejects that unbelief and receives the fullness of Christ, he is no longer committing the sin of unbelief. There is a point at which a blatant rejection of the Spirit of truth may seal a person’s fate forever, but only God is the judge of when a heart is completely hardened.

Answer #3

I think it is like this if you accept jesus and repent you are washed away from sin, when you sin you become sin, therefore God hates sin, so he would be angered or disappointed in someone that has sins. unless they have repented and accepted the forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

Answer #4

Did you read the bible?

Soddam & Gamorah…? Hello? God nuked an entire city. BLAM!

So in the old testament, god hated the sin AND the sinner. The ark? Noah?

God “nuked” the world, b/c it was full of “sin”…again, hating on the sinners and the sin.

If you’re going to believe in something, read the book the religious figure tells you to - otherwise, drop the belief, b/c you don’t know the real story.

Answer #5

If you think about it in terms of a parent to a child. If my child does something that is bad, I don’t love them any less.

I dont have kids, but I know that I wouldnt allow anyone I loved to spend an enternity in hell for any reason. But hey, there’s my concept of love, and then I guess there’s your God’s concept of love…

Answer #6

religion is weird to me :P, it doesnt make sense and sounds like total bull, does anyone know where this quote came from “this myth of christ, has served us well”

Answer #7

From a theist’s perspective, sin is nothing more than that which displeases god.

So “god hates sin but not the sinner” amounts to “god hates the things he hates, but not the people who do the things he hates”. Huh?

Answer #8

god does haate sin but he DOES NOT hate the sinner. everyone is a sinner. and to be a true christian you must have love for the brother (no true hate towards another human) so yes he hate sin but no he does not hate the sinner

Answer #9

amblessed your a total ignorant * people have gotten pissed of at your crappy comments a million times because your so ignorant, get a life

Answer #10

Captainassassin, Really? No, I love my children. I don’t even think of it in terms of punish. I do my best to guide them to do what is right. Before you jump on that word, by right, I mean what I see as right. What else would I go by? I want my kids to be good, loving people who treat other with respect and decency.

Answer #11

If you think about it in terms of a parent to a child. If my child does something that is bad, I don’t love them any less.

But you DO still punish them. But do you drown them, kill their first born, plague them, or turn them into a pillar of salt?

Answer #12

how can a sin be, if it’s not made real by someone. in other words, if god hates the sin, and not the sinner, then that makes no one accountable for their actions.

people do what they do, sin (crime) is rife all the time, but it doesn’t happen unless someone makes it…

Answer #13

If you think about it in terms of a parent to a child. If my child does something that is bad, I don’t love them any less.

Answer #14

Unconditional love? Ok you realize the word unconditional means without conditions… and again to rephrase “no conditions”… to allow a person to burn in hell for any reason does not make it unconditional love…

Answer #15

its call unconditional Love . between a parent and child. yes its the same with God too . The only unforgivable sin is to reject the Holy Ghost. God just wants us to come to him for repenting of sins and to talk with him praying and reading his word. Trying to live as he would want us to live . Once you are saved then the battle begins as Satan will try and steer you away and confuse you . Stand firm and pray that God will protect you and stay with you Satan doesnt like it when he can’t get to you because you put your faith in Jesus and keeps him close to you .

Answer #16

None of that was on topic… pay attention… quit preaching… and quit wasting webspace…

Answer #17

God won’t punish you but you should still show Him you’re sorry through prayer so he knows you regret it.
