Why do doctors say its okay to give a child Melatonin if it has been known to cause vivid and, my personal experience, very weird dreams while taking them?

help a child fall asleep safely vs vivid dreams…. personally i dont mind vivd dreams, unless theres abunch of clowns, or freddy krueger running around in my head

Because good sleep is worth it. Melatonin is extremely beneficial especially for a growing child. I have insomnia and let me tell you lack o sleep is not fun. Now i take things to help control it a little but i used ro sleep less than 4 hours a night. It was terrible. Long term lack of sleep is one of the worst things for you but i hav it so bad it was effecting me short term. My hair started falling out my skin turned a sickly frayyish color and i passed out several times at very inconvenient locAtions. Ive taken melatonin along with another natural medicine called melissa that i highly recomend for 2 yrs now an i am sleeping much much better. Some people may get crazy dreams from melatonin but i sure dont and alltogether even if i did its way worth it :)

I like the sleep it gives me but the dreams it made me have were far from pleasant. I give it to my kids and occasinally I will ask if they r havein bad dreams. Maybe its just me but those kind of vivid dreams I don’t like

Because humans can only dream about things they have experianced. You wouldnt dream of an octopus if you didnt know what it was. And with children having so little experience in the world, they wouldnt have dreams of cereal killers and scary things. They might have dreams of falling or being chased by some kids on a soccer field, but its really just a dream. And until diagnosed as night terrors, they are pretty harmless.
