Do you use the unanswered or pending links on the site?

On the home page, the “un-answered questions” link gives you questions that don’t have an answer yet. On the “Questions” page in the top nav, you can select “pending” for those questions without an answer.

So, do you use those toggles to help out other members? If not, what can we do to encourage people to answer questions, thus making the site more fun (eg, it’s a good, fast answer is better than a slow, fast answer). Ideas & thoughts appreciated :)

Answer #1

I agree with Steph.

Answer #2

I have but I dont like all the older qurestion there because there never going to read them…as steph says…I also dont think people need to answer 2 year old question…or they should be blocked or something…because I’ve noticed a lot of new people start answering old questions with silly answers just to add to there numbers

Answer #3

yeah a lot of the quetions that remain unanswered make no sense, or are in a topic only few know about

Answer #4

I agree with stephanief987

Answer #5

never used it

Answer #6

I do sometimes but I feel helpless answering a 3-year-old question because I know the user isn’t going to go look now. Also I cant make sense out of a lot of them I’ve noticed even after research.

Answer #7

I don’t use those links because I try to skim through all questions that have been posted since my last visit, answering all that interest me regardless of whether they have been answered or not.

I, too, would be apprehensive about answering extremely old questions. First because the asker is probably not going to be viewing the answer and second because other members are not likely to be benefiting from my answer because they, too, are unlikely to view the question.

I guess if we thought more people were using the “Search” feature we might be encouraged to answer the older questions.
