Do you think answers using Google are appropriate on this site?

I mean is it just a matter of time before someone does a how to on using search engines to respond to questions on Funadvice? I can only speak for myself I look to this site to personal responses to even the most standard questions.. even more so when they are personal.. we can all use the sidebar to our browsers people.. wait let me retract that. who knows..

I think it’s okay to do on some questions, as long as you aren’t copy and pasting every single answer. Also, if you do copy and paste from another site, you should cite your source.

I see nothing wrong with researching something before answering either. It’s good to make sure you are answering something accurately. Sometimes I think I know the answer, but I research it just to make sure I am correct, so I don’t give false information.

YES! Because some people aren’t smart enough to google the answer in the first place. For example research paper. And it’s lame how students use this site for their homework. You go to school for a reason, to learn. Also if you google search, there are sites with personal problems along with advice. heck funadvice is like a second google.

well i guess im thinking same as using resources for papers etc, you change it into your own words, or your own explanation otherwise its plagiarism. for those that use it as a homework site, that’s a definite fail for so many reasons..

I think is fine, I think that’s just with yahoo answers that this site does not like because of past problems they have had. But yeah, I mean I even use it sometimes just to make sure that my answers are correct and all.

have you gone through the education questions? makes me furious. education and internet does not go well together unless it has to do with research. DOE knows they could cheat yet they still have online programs for homework and school work grades 1 to 12.
