What does it mean when you have diarrhea and it's really black?

My grandmother asked me what does it mean because she said she been pooping like that for 5 days now .. please don’t make fun of this question :(

When I first started having troubles with acid reflux the doc asked me if either of those were the case for me. He said it can be a sign of acid reflux, ulcers or several other stomach / intestinal disorders. I would HIGHLY recommend talking to a doctor!

Happens sometimes if you’ve been eating stuff with relatively high iron content, like liver or blood sausages.

yes the presence of blood in the gastrointestinal tract would make the stool black, what also can go with that condition is vomiting what appears to be a coffee ground like substance. definitely have her go to the doctor.

Yes, it could be a stomach ulcer or other intestinal disorder. black stool is a sign that there’s blood in your stomach or intestines. the body cannot digest blood and it turns black. definitely talk to a doctor
