Shouldn't he apologize for quitting debate?

I’m in high school debate, and my partner quit on me after the first day of the last tournament (3 rounds Friday, 3 Saturday-he didn’t come back Saturday). I do have a chance for another partner who can’t debate this weekend, blah blah blah. The point is, am I a horrible person to be mad at my ex-debate partner? He did have a good reason to quit, but halfway through a huge, big deal tournament (6 states)?? I don’t hate him or anything, but I just want him to apologize or something…So, am I bad?

Answer #1

NO, you are not wrong or bad at all! It obviously upset you and he was your partner and he let you down. That was part of his responsibility. I’m sure he did have a reason to quit, but it is not your job to apologize. Maybe comfort him if something bad happened and that is why he quit, but you should not feel the least bit bad. It is not your fault he quit, and he should be the one apologizing. :)

Answer #2

Unless it was for death in a family, or injury to a family member, Yes, I think it would be good for him to apologize.

Answer #3

well, I moved on and got a new partner, so it’s over no matter what. I’m over him :)
