Coping with anger behind the wheel

Hey people. I recently bought my car, and it’s on manual. I still take some more time on slopes since I use the handbreak. Even on straight road I take more time than people with automatic to start and sometimes people behind me start honking like there’s no tomorrow and shout as much as they can. It really gets me pissed off, I feel like getting out of the car and go punch em. How can you possibly not pay attention to stuff like that ?

Answer #1

Agree with the above - practice will erase that delay in starting off…Good luck !!

Answer #2

Firstly - yes, you’re going to get better the more you get used to it (this from someone who’s only ever driven manual cars).

Secondly - I’ve heard of places where people honk the moment the lights go green. That is their problem, not yours! Read the book ‘Don’t sweat the small stuff’, if you want to reconsider the need for speed in your life - it helps put everything into perspective, and shows you how to get less angry about these little things.

Answer #3

Go to a parking lot and learn how to drive first, before you get back out there on the road.
