collapsed lung

Has anyone ever had a collapsed lung? What does it feel like to have one? How did they treat it?

Answer #1

never had one and its escruciating you scream in pain, because you can’t breath in enough air and it hurts to breath… and they have to poke a hole through your skin to your lung and fill it with air… I have seen some one with one though…

Zetsumeisan is partly right, it is painful, but it is not excruciating. I had one recently, and I found it really hurt to take a deep breath of move my lift arm (left lung collapsed). I found sitting in leaning forwards helped with the pain a bit, but it still hurts quite constantly. And yes, they cut a hole in your side, go through the ribs into the rib cage to extract the air caught in there (thats what causes the pain, the pressure from the escaping air). takes a few days for the lung to heal, then you are good to go! hope it helps!
