Churches against murder

How come it is that all churches are against murder yet they all have a cross? If you look back into a cross is a murder weapon. It killed jesus and countless other people? All these very religious people wear crosses yet are against murder. Shouldn’t it be satan worshippers that wear the cross because it symbolizes the MURDER of Christ? Sorry if this question is stupid but it just seems to make sense to me…

About children…

If I shot a man in self-defense, I will still have “killed” him, with no prior intent to do so. Or are you saying preserving my life at the cost of another trying to take it is murder, also?

But you see, people have not done that for a long time, especially not since the New Testament was written. If something like that happened, it was the result of capital punishment by the government of the area, not just one person going out and killing another, because that in turn WAS treated as murder.

I wish those of you who wish to be critical of the Bible in these instances would differentiate between “Murder”(a premeditated killing by an individual) and capital punishment(which was generally after either being caught red-handed, or after a trial, though sometimes an unfair one). Every time they ever mention these instances being enforced in the Old Testament, it was as capital punishment. If I’m not mistaken, that book encouraged capital punishment and discouraged individual vigilante action. And though the Roman Catholic church used its interpretation of the Bible to carry out biased or self-advantageous capital punishments, they remained capital punishments by a governing institution, and not the actions of individuals.

Unless you want to bring the Koran into the mix, but that’s like comparing a creationist-based science book to an evolutionist-based science book. Generally two entirely different things.

You say it well.

Lex icon God tells us it is a sin to kill. He never tells us to kill homosexuals or insolent children, don’t even go there. God tells us what He despises I.e. homosexual acts, insolence towards your parents etc. This is only so that we can live a fuller more blessed life and not die young because of our promiscous lifestyles. God is first and foremost a God of love,but don’t test Him to long, before you know it, it will be too late.

To me, the Cross is a reminder of what a loving Savior, paid for my life. He gave his innocent life, in exchange for my life, that I might truly find the meaning of life, in Him.

Some find the Cross, destable, I find it irristable.

I have found a relationship with the one who died on that Cross for me, and it has opened up the whole meaning of life to me.

I would not trade this relationship for anything, or anyone, on this earth, or beneath the earth.

When I opened up my heart, to allow this Jesus, entrance into my life, truly, my life began anew. Old things were washed away, and all things became brand new.

This, however, was just the beginning, of my relationship with him. I have sought him continually from that day forward, (June 1985 ). I have learned of him, I have grown in him, I truly delight in him.

He is my everything.

I am very proud to be called his chilc.

If you wish to have this same relationship with him, I am more than willing to answer any questions you may have, however, I prefer to do so privately, as my relationship is the most important thing in my life, and it would grieve me terribly, to have it scorned openly, as I know would happen, (and will happen as a result of my words ). Back a long time ago when someone did somthing wrong against G-d they had to sacrafice for it. To show repentance they would burn their food which would be like us burning money today. G-d however made a promise and that promise was Yeshua. Yeshua was the son of G-d who performed many miracles, he was innocent yet was tortured and hung on the cross because the jewish leaders were scared of him. Being the son of G-d he had the power to do whatever he wanted but he loved us as the father loves us and it was to demonstraight just how much he loves us. It is a symbol of G-d’s love, not murder.

The cross isn’t what murdered jesus…he was murdered by being nailed to a cross and being stoned to death. The cross represents jesus dying for us and we use the cross as jesus dying for our sins. According to the bible he died so we were able to repent therefore if he we wouldnt go straight to hell for our sins…all this according to if you’re a christian.

I will give you an answer if you really want to know the meaning of cross. But it is your choice to accept or reject. Also I am not in for an argument with others here as I have wasted enough of time on this.

Answer The cross is not treated as the symbol of murder when it is used in church. It is symbol of Christ’s payment for our sins by which we are provided our salvation. This is what the church wants to remember when the place the cross in there. They no not want to remember that ugly weapon but they want to remember the person Jesus who accepted a death on this ugly weapon for us.

Having said all this I would also want to say this. According to the word of God it is wrong to place a cross in the place of worship or to wear one. In fact it is a sin and it also a sin place any idol not only the cross.

The primary definition of murder is ‘kill intentionally and with premeditation’.

Therefore, killing a homosexual or insolent child because the bible tells you to is murder.

I bellieve you have a point! The bible clearly states that we should not adore ANYTHING but god the almighty. Not a statue, a cross, Nothing …Clearly the cross symbolizes the horrifying death that Jesus Christ suffered. Jesus was a ransom for our sins and should and did not want us to render him any type of worship as he came to earth to preach the law of his father. I’ve seen that many churches even have statues of jesus in a cross which goes completely against the scriptures. And no we should not murder those that are homosexuales, child molesters ect. yes, the bible does consider all of the above sins … but it also states that we shall not kill. So why are so many religions allowed to go to war?

Actually, I’m more in line with the author’s thinking. Why are we remembering him by his DEATH? Why don’t we come up with something for his life, or the fact that he broke the bonds of death through resurrection? A cross(or crucifix) was a common tool used by the Romans to execute those who had comitted higher crimes. Is this really how we should be remembering our brother, Savior, and Creator?
