Chronic head pressure with mono?

Okie doke.. so about two and a half months ago, I started feeling this pressure in my head, and became fatigued very easily. I know I posted a question a while ago about it… but anyways, didn’t think too much of it until I went to Las Vegas for equestrian World Cup Finals. I went downhill FAST, and was in bed the entire time. Went to an urgent care center, and the doctor there was a REAL piece of work. Worthless. Didn’t know what he was talking about. Blah blah blah so I drove home and saw my own doctor. Did some bloodwork, and it turns out I have mononucleosis (mono for short)

My question is… well, my worst symptoms went away in about a week and a half. However, I still have this lingering chronic head pressure. It’s not in any certain part of my head, just kind of all over. Is this typical with mono? My doctor didn’t want to do an MRI or brain scan because she checked me over completely and didn’t see anything possibly neurological. I have no pain, just pressure all the time from when I wake up to when I go to bed. I kind of feel a little fullness in my ears as well.

I know none of you are doctors, but maybe if any of you have had this pressure with mono before, you could help me out. It’s been almost 3 months now and it really is affecting everything I do.

Yeah I never got the sore throat. I had a really tight throat that was sore for a day, but then went away. The tightness remained for a while though. I am prone to ear infections, so I’m making an appointment with an ENT. I am hoping that since these “headaches” are completely painless, that maybe if I get my ears taken care of, the pressure in my head will also be relieved. I know some people feel effects from mono for up to a year or more. I hope I’m not one of them.

Hi there sarah,

I had mono for 3 months in my 9th grade year. I remember first having a serious serious sore throat, then a splitting headache. I do remember the headache enough to tell you that I think it’s normal and a part of mono, but 3 months does sound long. If it hasn’t gotten any better in 2 weeks, I’d go to a different doctor.
