How to tell japanese writing from chinese?

how can you tell the difference between Japanese and Chinese writing??

and can you tell if somebody is from Japan, Thailand, China, Taiwan, etc??

Answer #1

Japanese writing usually formed with 2 or 3 types of character, but Chinese is just 1.

Speaking of asian appearance… even It’s hard to tell for us(Japanese) if he is Chinese or Taiwanee and especially Korean…but somehow we recognize it. from what they wear or hair stayle, something like that. and actually we have a little difference in our face, but I can’t tell…too difficult. =)

I think the skin of Thai peaple is much darker.

Answer #2

Chinese writing goes side to side Japanese writing goes up and down.

Answer #3

… I dunno what channy is saying but chinese and japanese both go vertically, as well as the majority of asian languages… not trying to sound arogant and racists but in terms of writing, chinese is usually more complex, involving multiple components. japanese has some identical characters within their writing but there are also some simplier words that are composed of strokes and dashes. korean characters are basically 3-4 parts composed of circles and lines, no offense.

in terms of speaking, good luck with chinese, its composed of almost as many dialects as indians do. korean is probably one of the most easiest to discern out because of their strong accents but not the best bet. japanese- go watch some anime and you’ll get the gist of it

with appearance it really goes by attire like fummy said. for the most part, koreans like to dress up nicely- dress shirts, black boots, high heels, skirts, etc. chinese and japanese are slightly more…lax and lazy about it. t-shirts, jeans, messy hair, etc.

hope that helped
